What to expect
Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum
Enjoy private transportation throughout the entire trip. You will be picked up directly from your hotel in Warszawa and travel to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum in a brand-new luxury Mercedes-Benz or BMW.
Upon arrival at the museum, you will have 15 to 20 minutes before the group tour begins. The group consists of up to 30 people.
When entering the museum, you will pass through airport-style security with metal detectors. The driver will accompany you until you meet the guide and help you collect your audio equipment (headphones and receiver), so you can hear the guide clearly throughout the tour.
The visit takes place in a group of no more than 30 people and is divided into two parts: first Auschwitz I, followed by Auschwitz II-Birkenau, 3.5 km away. Of course, your chauffeur will be available to you at all times. Learning about these German Nazi crimes takes approximately 3 hours (Auschwitz I approximately 2 hours, Auschwitz II-Birkenau approximately 1 hour). After the first part of the tour at Auschwitz I, you will have another 15- to 20-minute break. The driver will take you from Auschwitz I to Auschwitz II-Birkenau for the second part of your visit.
Most of the grounds and buildings are accessible to visitors, except for blocks reserved for the museum administration and its departments.
When you finish your visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps, your driver will take you to the Salt Mine—a journey of approximately 1.5 hours. Upon arrival at this unique site, you will have 15 to 20 minutes before the tour begins.
When you enter the Salt Mine, collect your audio equipment (headphones and receiver), so you can hear everything the guide says during the tour. The driver will accompany you until you meet the guide.
Sightseeing is offered in a group of no more than 40 people. Your first challenge is to descend approximately 400 steps to reach the mine’s first level, 63 meters underground. You will then begin your tour through 3 of the mine’s 7 levels open to visitors. As you travel through the tunnels of this historic and beautiful site, you will see enormous chambers, an amazing chapel, hear a short concert, and enjoy a light and sound show. The final stage of your tour takes you from the third level, 137 meters underground, back to the surface. Don’t worry—you will take the elevator up.
Throughout your tour, the driver will wait for you in the parking lot in case anything happens and you need them.
When you finish your guided tour, the driver will take you back to your hotel or another location in Warszawa.
