What to expect
HafenCity
In a narrower sense, HafenCity as a project name refers to the approximately 157-hectare area on the Großer Grasbrook, which formerly belonged to the free port. By the beginning of the 2030s, it is expected that residential units for up to 14,000 people[2], up to 3000 hotel rooms, and jobs for up to 45,000 people, primarily in the office and service sector, will be created on the site. Furthermore, up to 10,000 pupils and students, as well as around 50,000 customers and tourists per day, are expected, so that after completion, over 120,000 people are anticipated to bring the district to life daily. It is currently one of the largest inner-city urban development projects in Europe.

The Historic Ship Harbor in the Heart of Hamburg
Sandtorhafen is the historic ship harbor of the Stiftung Hamburg Maritim.
The pontoon facility belonging to HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is, in keeping with the historic significance of Sandtorhafen, a place of directly tangible cultural history from the outset.
Historic ships, harbor facilities, and work equipment are the tangible evidence of Hamburg's maritime history. To preserve, restore, and make them publicly accessible is the goal of the Stiftung Hamburg Maritim.
Sandtorkai, today Hamburg's oldest quay wall, was already restored in 2002 with great effort and in accordance with monument protection requirements. Three historic access bridges provide access to the pontoon facility in front of it, and on Kaiserkai on the south bank of the harbor, three restored general cargo cranes are set up – reminiscences of the place's history!

Elbphilharmonie
The Elbphilharmonie (also known as "Elphi")[1][2] is a concert hall in Hamburg, completed in November 2016. It was planned with the goal of creating a new landmark for the city and a "cultural monument for all".[3][4][5] The 110-meter-high building in the HafenCity district is located on the right bank of the Norderelbe at the tip of Großen Grasbrooks, between the mouths of the Sandtorhafen and Grasbrookhafen harbor basins. It was built incorporating the shell of the former Kaispeicher A (built in 1963). A modern superstructure with a glass facade was placed on this base, reminiscent of sails, water waves, icebergs, or a quartz crystal. The location at Kaiserhöft is characterized by the former industrial use of the harbor and the Neo-Gothic brick architecture of the Speicherstadt.
