Full-Day Berlin City Tour: Landmarks, History and Lunch

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Brandenburg Gate & Reichstag
I will pick you up from the Berlin Holiday Apartments near the main train station (Invalidenstraße 100, 10115 Berlin, Germany), after which we will begin the tour at the Brandenburg Gate. This iconic landmark is a symbol of German unity. You will learn more about its historical significance as the former border between East and West Berlin. Then visit the nearby Reichstag building, where you can gain insights into the heart of German politics (entry to the glass dome is optional and requires advance registration).

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Holocaust Memorial & Unter den Linden
A short walk takes you to the Holocaust Memorial, a deeply moving and powerful tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. From there, stroll along the historic boulevard Unter den Linden, passing landmarks such as the State Opera, Humboldt University and Museum Island.

12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch Break at a Berlin Restaurant
Enjoy a traditional Berlin lunch, such as currywurst or Königsberger Klopse, at a restaurant near Museum Island or Hackescher Markt.

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Checkpoint Charlie & Berlin Wall
After lunch, visit historic Checkpoint Charlie, one of the most famous crossing points between East and West Berlin. Continue to the East Side Gallery, a preserved section of the Berlin Wall adorned with vibrant murals that bring the history of the Cold War to life.

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Potsdamer Platz & Modern Berlin
Head to Potsdamer Platz, a symbol of modern Berlin with its futuristic architecture. Experience how Berlin has developed into a thriving global city since the fall of the Wall. Optional: A brief stop at the Sony Center or a coffee break overlooking this lively square.

4:30 PM – 5:00 PM: End at Gendarmenmarkt
End the day at elegant Gendarmenmarkt, one of Berlin’s most beautiful squares, framed by the German and French Cathedrals and the Konzerthaus. Relax with a coffee or a glass of wine to bring your tour to a stylish close.
