Next, visit the St.-Nikolaus-Denkmal. The church was almost completely destroyed during Operation "Gomorrah". The remaining ruins serve as a memorial to the horrors of war, but even from the ruins, you can still imagine what a majestic structure it once was. In the 19th century, it was briefly the tallest building in the world, and you can take the elevator to ascend the remaining spire and enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.
