Deutsches Hafenmuseum Location Schuppen 50A

The Hafenmuseum Hamburg is located in the middle of the former Free Port on the last remaining and listed quay ensemble of the Imperial era, whose structure was laid out more than 100 years ago and at the time ensured optimal transshipment between seagoing vessels and land transport. Massive cranes tower into the sky at the quay, historic freight cars stand on the original tracks of the port railway, and in the harbor basin lie a coal-fired floating steam crane, the general cargo freighter 'MS Bleichen', and other historic vessels. Nowhere else can you experience the atmosphere of the Port of Hamburg from the time before the introduction of the container so closely as in the Hafenmuseum, a branch of the Museum der Arbeit, which is open from the beginning of April to the end of October and is a place of experience of a very special kind.

Speicherstadt

The Hamburg Speicherstadt (built between 1883 and 1927 on the former Elbe islands and residential quarters Kehrwieder and Wandrahm) has been under monument protection since 1991 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015. As the world's largest historic warehouse complex, it is one of Hamburg's most impressive attractions.

Museum Ship Cap San Diego

The CAP SAN DIEGO is the world's largest, seaworthy museum cargo ship. Its elegant silhouette is as much a part of Hamburg's harbor panorama as the Speicherstadt and the Michel.
Tourists love it; the crew and 45 volunteer retired sailors keep it in good shape with great dedication. The CAP SAN DIEGO is the last remaining ship of a series of six fast general cargo ships, which were built in 1961/62 for the Hamburg Süd shipping company and primarily sailed to South America until the end of 1981. Since 1988, the CAP SAN DIEGO has been a museum ship, and since 2003 also a maritime monument and floating hotel, which today has its berth at the Überseebrücke in Hamburg.
