Description
Across the river from Warsaw’s Old Town lies a district called Praga. It was often burned by foreign invaders, but in 1944 it survived against all odds and escaped the fate of many other communities on the other side of the Vistula.
Over the years, it acquired a rough reputation due to neglect, but in recent years it has begun to regenerate! Today, you will find bars, restaurants, cafés, and street art along its lanes.
On the tour, we will see the district that survived and hear about its history through the exposed brickwork and beneath the graffiti inscriptions. We will experience architectural wonders that have been given new life and, of course, we will also eat and drink at eateries from previous and current generations.

Meeting and pickup
We meet at the 9-meter-high statue of the priest in front of the cathedral’s main entrance, a large brick church with two slender bell towers. The nearest tram and bus stop is “Park Praski”; from there, cross the street toward the cathedral. We will gather at the statue to begin our tour!
This is the corner of Targowa and Ząbkowska Streets, not far from Galeria Wileńska. Trams and buses run from Ząbkowska and Galeria Wileńska stations.
