We begin the day by exploring the surroundings of Santa Maria de Montserrat Monastery, one of Catalonia’s most important sites and a pilgrimage destination for centuries. We will learn about its history, its best-known sites, and the viewpoints from which you can admire the spectacular mountain.
We will then leave the busier areas behind and head into the mountains to hike its trails—a total of approximately 7 km. We will walk among the characteristic rock formations that gave it its name—Montserrat, “jagged mountain”—and discover some of its ancient hermitages and less-visited corners.
As we climb higher, the landscape opens up before us, offering panoramic views of Catalonia and, on clear days, the Mediterranean Sea.
