Description
Our Treblinka & Tykocin tour is a great option for people who want not only to learn more about Jewish history during the Holocaust, but also about what life looked like in Poland many years ago. At the Treblinka Death Camp, we will visit the museum to see a model of the camp and then continue to the memorial. Our next stop will be Tykocin—a typical shtetl town and also a charming art town, making it a great place to have lunch and rest for a while. Tykocin is also home to one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Poland (founded in 1522; the oldest matzevot date from 1754). In Lopuchowo Forest, we will make a short stop at the memorial commemorating the massacre of Jewish people from Tykocin. This is a full-day tour.

What to expect
Treblinka Memorial
Treblinka II was an extermination camp built by the Germans in 1942. Around 1,000,000 people were killed there in gas chambers. Most of the victims were Jews, but Roma and Sinti people, as well as other minorities, were also murdered there. We will visit the museum, watch two films about the Reinhard Action and the Treblinka camp, and then go to the memorial.

Tykocin
Tykocin is a former shtetl town. It is unique because it was not destroyed by the Germans, allowing you to admire authentic 17th-century architecture. We will visit the synagogue and the Talmud house, see the Church of the Holy Trinity, and look at the Alumnat, the former military hospital and one of the first of its kind in Europe.

Our final stop is the Lopuchowo Forest. It is located just a few kilometers from Tykocin. In 1941, 250 Jews from Tykocin were murdered and buried here by German Nazis. Today, a memorial stands at this site.
