Wieliczka Salt Mine
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest mines in the world and has operated continuously since the 13th century. In 1978, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tourist route extends 135 metres below the surface across three levels. During your visit, you will explore irregular salt chambers that resemble natural caves, secret passageways, underground lakes, and fantastic wooden structures supporting the walls. Discover a vast church 110 metres underground, along with a collection of sculptures and decorations made by the miners themselves, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper in a 3D version carved in salt by an amateur artist. Enjoy an astonishing combination of fantastic views, stories, legends, ghosts, and anecdotes.
