The city tour leads from the Landungsbrücken to St. Pauli, to Davidstraße and Herbertstraße. From Hans-Albers-Platz, it goes to the fish market and the fish auction hall up to the fishing harbor:The harbor is a male domain, so it is said. But women have been working in the Hamburg harbor and in St. Pauli for a long time. They are angels, innkeepers, prostitutes, and street workers. They can also be found on ships and in shipyards. We learn about what women move and achieve, on cranes, in clubs, and in fish halls, and we take a look at the large murals of the FrauenFreiluftGalerie. This city tour is about hard women’s work in the fishing industry, in shipyards, and in shipping companies, about prostitution in St. Pauli, as well as about innkeepers like Erna from Silbersack and the social worker Domenica.

Wilhelmburg was once its own municipality in the Kingdom of Hanover. Industrialization and the expansion of the harbor across the Elbe from the end of the 19th century led to rapid growth in the present-day Hamburg district. The tour begins in the old free port. Then it continues into the historic Reiherstieg quarter, which became a residential area for harbor and shipyard workers at the end of the 19th century. Along old industrial canals, we first reach the new Wilhelmsburger Mitte, where numerous new residential buildings were constructed as part of the International Building Exhibition (IBA) 2013. After a short break, we head to the Dove Elbe and the Johanna windmill before reaching the old harbor workers' settlement in eastern Wilhelmsburg. Everywhere we encounter traces of the history of the labor movement, which long shaped the once "red" district.
