Club Energía invites you to an all-inclusive journey. Through the port of Hamburg to the El Cerrejón mine in La Guajira, Northern Colombia. Across the coca plantations of Colombia and finally into the pulsating nightlife of a large German city in summer. Cocaine, coal, capital. How do you get fired up?
Millions of tons of coal leave Northern Colombia on large ships to supply Germany's coal-fired power plants with energy. Thousands of Hamburg noses consume daily what Colombian farmers have produced for them: coke. Two energy kicks, one name.
A performative harbor tour to the coal port along redrawn coke routes, finally to end up in the depths of scenic bass tones at Club Hafenklang. Global dependencies, the sacred coca plant, indigenous culture, colonization and displacement, as well as crime and activism. A story of failed coal phase-out and energetic parties in the conflict between activism and hedonism.
