Shipping is global – and so is the work. Seafarers from all over the world work on ships under flags of convenience. Dockworkers in Hong Kong, Vancouver, and Rotterdam do the same job – and have the same employer. Over a million people are at sea, ensuring our world remains as we know it – but the solidarity among these people is also global. Reduced price €26

    Excursions et circuits
    Visites en bateau du port
A slightly different harbor tour focusing on environmental policy in Hamburg, port expansion, the deepening of the Elbe, and water pollution. For 44 years, the ALTERNATIVE HARBOR TOUR has examined the environmental consequences caused by the port:how wastewater is discharged;how the port and industry swallow up entire villages;how the Elbe is being transformed into a shipping canal;what effects the deepenings of the Elbe have;why the tides are becoming more extreme;why there are still fish kills and oxygen depletion zones;why swimming in the Elbe will not be possible in the long term;what all this costs you.The Alternative Harbor Tour is not just an "environmental tour"; it also highlights the interactions between ecology, economic practices, location policy, and social policy. If you would like to get to know these sides of the harbor as well and discuss with us what needs to be done so that the port serves the city, instead of making the city its servant, let's meet on the ALTERNATIVE HARBOR TOUR!The tour starts at the Vorsetzen pier. Tickets are sold at the Barkassen-Centrale Ehlers kiosk on the Jan-Fedder-Promenade.Rettet die Elbe e.V. is a non-profit environmental protection association; the proceeds go toward the association's goals.
