Leonie SwannReading and conversation with Julia Kemp followed by the film "Glennkill: A Sheep Thriller"Leonie Swann is coming to Hamburg with her latest novel "Widdersehen"! And indeed, "Widdersehen" is a reunion: a reunion with Leonie Swann, who once celebrated her breakthrough with her debut "Glennkill. Ein Schafskrimi". The highlight: here the animals themselves are the narrators! With "Widdersehen", Leonie Swann picks up the tone of her debut again and presents another animal crime novel: When shepherdess Rebecca suddenly cancels her European trip and leads the flock around Miss Maple back to their Irish home pasture, the sheep are initially as optimistic as spring lambs. Because where could it be nicer than on their home pasture? But the pasture is no longer what it was: strange sheep have eaten the favorite herbs, and Rebecca disappears without a trace. All that remains is a single finger and a mysterious letter that no one can read. The sheep fear the worst. They investigate themselves – and get caught up in a family drama, which once again shows: everything can be overcome – you just need enough willpower!Afterwards, the film "Glennkill: Ein Schafskrimi" will be shown. The film is based on Leonie Swann's novel of the same name; in the German version, Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka lend their voices to two sheep. Thus, the reading also offers a look at the transformation of a literary world success into cinema: What remains of Miss Maple and her flock on the screen?Leonie Swann, born in 1975 near Munich, studied Philosophy, Psychology, and English Literature in Munich and Berlin. Her debut "Glennkill" became an international bestseller and was awarded the Friedrich Glauser Prize. She lives in Berlin.
