This tour begins at Cruise Center Steinwerder, where you are closer than almost anywhere else to gigantic cruise ships. From there, the route passes curiosities of the port industry and, with a little luck, you may encounter Odo’s mobile coffee stand along the way. The cranes on the grounds of the Blohm und Foss shipyard tower over the industrial scenery. From unusual perspectives, you always have a view of the Michel in the distance. It serves as a fixed point guiding the port explorer toward the old Elbe Tunnel. At its southern entrance, take one last look across the Elbe toward the Landungsbrücken and the Hamburg panorama before being transported below the riverbed in the wooden elevator. You cross the Elbe on dry land through one of the two ornately tiled tubes dating from 1911. You reach the surface via 132 steps or once again by elevator. From the Art Nouveau domed building at the northern entrance, it is a five-minute walk to our stop, 1 St. Pauli Landungsbrücken.
