He writes his pieces from the drums – a groove, a riff, sometimes a melody. The drums are the timekeeper and starting point at the same time.For his quartet, the Cologne native found the right voices in Hamburg: Will Rees-Jones from London on tenor saxophone, Moritz Schöwing from Bremen on piano, and Julian Eingang from Vienna on double bass. Together, they create an intense, raw, and unconventional sound between post-bop and modern jazz.The music develops from expressive melodies into a meditative pull – then the change of pace that no one saw coming. Contemporary jazz, European in conception, unconventionally played.On August 26th, they will celebrate their debut album – with guest guitarist Kalle Kalima, who can also be heard on the album.
