The exhibition reconstructs 15 significant art collections belonging to German Jewish citizens before 1945 and brings together many of their masterpieces of modern art, now scattered worldwide, in one place. Approximately 100 works are presented, ranging from Realism and Impressionism to Expressionism and New Objectivity, by artists such as Paul Cézanne, Lovis Corinth, Ferdinand Hodler, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Franz Marc, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Max Pechstein, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Milly Steeger, and many others.
