Sebastian Witte studied the history of science in Hamburg. Since 2011, he has been an editor at GEO – writing about all topics from the cosmos of research. He particularly enjoys dedicating himself to the big questions of life: What makes us the people we are? What are happiness and contentment based on? How do we find more peace and serenity? To find peace, to escape the noise of the present, to be with oneself: Many share this longing. But when it actually becomes quiet, when the din of everyday life falls silent for a moment, we feel how challenging true stillness is. We are so drilled for activity and performance that a lack of experience almost appears as a threat. At this book premiere, Sebastian Witte will talk with owner Daniel Hagemann about how the happiness of quiet moments can be easily experienced by each and every one of us and makes life richer.

Lübeck 1800. In the Maret patisserie, there is exquisite pastry and a display full of delicacies. But the journeyman Johann dreams of much more. He wants to make marzipan that warms the heart on cold winter days. Quickly, his skill earns him a name beyond the city limits. But just as he and his great love Anna are about to reach their goals, the economic blockade is imposed, and trade in the precious almonds comes to a standstill. The two are on the verge of losing everything when Johann takes another risk - with far-reaching consequences. > Lena Johannson - best known for her series about "Die Frauen vom Jungfernstieg" - is a trained bookseller. After her training, however, she first ended up in the tourism industry before she could combine her two passions, writing and travel, in her current profession as a writer. Today she lives near Lübeck and writes crime novels, historical novels, and books about the country & its people that not only inspire us. > In her latest work, she dedicates herself to the Lübeck company Niederegger and once again combines true history with great emotions. We love it - and not only because we love marzipan!
