The Art of Resistance2026 Edition: In Focus AfghanistanAfter its successful launch in 2024 with the first edition HASTAM – Just Because I AM, which focused on Iranian female artists and their perspectives on freedom, justice, and women's* rights and was supported, among others, by the INTRO funding program of the Authority for Culture and Media, the festival now returns. Initiated by Iranian composer Atena Eshtiaghi and accompanied by the Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg, HASTAM once again creates space for artistic voices that are often not heard in their region.The 2026 edition: In Focus Afghanistan focuses on contemporary artists from Iran and Afghanistan. Music remains the programmatic focus, but the festival consciously opens up to other artistic forms of expression: Film, dance, performance, workshops, panels, and discussion formats create space for encounters, exchange, and political reflection. Audience discussions and panels offer the opportunity to discuss directly with artists, activists, and experts about freedom, resistance, and social reality in Iran and Afghanistan.HASTAM 2026 invites you to experience the diversity, power, and relevance of contemporary art from both countries and to make their voices visible.

Die diesjährige Ausgabe richtet den Blick auf zeitgenössische Künstler:innen aus Iran und Afghanistan.  Musik bleibt der programmatische Schwerpunkt , doch das Festival öffnet sich bewusst für andere künstlerische Ausdrucksformen: Film, Tanz, Performance, Workshops, Panels und Diskussionsformate schaffen Raum für Begegnung, Austausch und politische Reflexion. Publikumsgespräche und Panels bieten die Möglichkeit, direkt mit Künstler:innen, Aktivist:innen und Expert:innen über Freiheit, Widerstand und gesellschaftliche Realität in Iran und Afghanistan zu diskutieren.
