Poetry & Hip-Hop brings spoken word artists/poets and hip-hop artists, such as MCs, beatboxers, and DJs together to let their creativity run free. The event series connects two genres that are actually not that dissimilar. It provides a creative platform for local and also partially international artists who are rooted in hip-hop culture. Unlike a regular poetry slam, the artists do not compete against each other in a contest, but rather it is about collaboration and artistic exchange. Clear vocals, high-energy guitar riffs & complex chords, combined with varied rhythms, form the foundation of Enopholyx's songs. In doing so, alternative rock is pushed to the limit and enriched with many influences from other genres. What makes it unique is the bassist Leo Dent's beatboxing, also known as Lionfreak. In addition to effects that are mainly known from electronic music, Leo's beats are used in addition to the drum grooves of Elias Sander to create a broader and more dynamic sound. They deftly avoid pushing Jack Muir, the lead singer and guitarist, into the background, and thus the clear, sometimes multi-voiced vocal melodies linger in memory for a long time. For further musical depth, Stuart Amberg on keyboards provides, through the creative use of sounds, the mood of the songs. Enopholyx has already been compared to bands such as Linkin Park, Arctic Monkeys, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, which are also important sources of inspiration for the artists.
