with Jochen Schliemann. Farin Urlaub has traveled even before he made music in a band. Although he is still far from his goal of seeing the whole world, for decades he has repeatedly been drawn to travel to Africa. Whether on his own or with a guide, by motorcycle or off-road vehicle – he has visited more than 40 countries on this vast, exciting, contradictory, and absolutely fascinating continent. He now wants to share the beauty, humanity, and adventure that he has repeatedly experienced there. Not as an all-knowing cultural expert, but as an enthusiastic and curious traveler who is not afraid of the unknown – traveling with a camera, functional clothing, and sunburn in search of truth. Together with Jochen Schliemann (journalist, traveler, writer, and one half of "Reisen Reisen - The Podcast"), Farin goes on a speaking tour through beautiful venues in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The two want to speak very openly about subjective experiences, show photos, and at least spark curiosity. Note: Some images depict weapons, genitalia, blood, and/or violence.

The Argonauts. Jason. Medea. STRANGE SUN / A six-part series by Roland Schimmelpfennig / Episode iv. Directed by Karin Beier. iv. Medea in Colchis: A Reconstruction Four people sit together. Much suggests they are in some kind of therapy session or in a psychiatric hospital. But it could just as easily be the afterlife, an underworld like Hades. Among the four people is one who has long been dead, Absyrtus, Medea's brother, while the others – Jason, Medea, Aeëtes – are still alive. An encounter of the living, undead, and dead that could never have happened. Roland Schimmelpfennig invents a kind of memory space in which the four painstakingly try to "reconstruct" a shared version of the story. We follow them to Colchis to find out what exactly happened there back then. Medea helped Jason obtain the Golden Fleece, that much is certain. But for what reason? Was it love or calculation? And who dismembered her brother Absyrtus to prevent her father Aeëtes from pursuing them? The starting point of the text is a retrospective and the question of the power of narration, which can seemingly correct reality retroactively.

Interview / Talk. Hosted by Jan Böhmermann. “No animal should ever jump up on the dining room furniture unless absolutely certain that he can hold his own in the conversation.” – Fran Lebowitz In a time when experts and self-proclaimed commentators are springing up everywhere, Fran Lebowitz stands out as one of the sharpest observers of the present. The New York author – known for her dry wit, urban coolness, and uncompromising views – dissects life in the USA with a mix of humor, clarity, and biting irony. She has become famous in the German-speaking world, especially since the Netflix documentary Pretend It’s A City, directed by her good friend Martin Scorsese. The documentary not only offers a glimpse of a flourishing New York but also showcases Lebowitz's unmistakable attitude toward city life and modern America. At the end of 2026, she will come to SchauSpielHaus Hamburg: The evening will be hosted by presenter and satirist Jan Böhmermann, before Fran Lebowitz takes questions from the audience. After the event, there will be an opportunity to have books signed in the foyer. Note: Bags larger than A4 are not allowed at this event. Larger bags can be checked in at the cloakroom.
