After the breeding season or molting, the majority of Greylag Geese leave the city from mid-June. Many of Hamburg's geese spend the summer at various resting places along the Elbe or on the North and Baltic Seas, which we can determine through our banding in cooperation with the Institute for Avian Research "Vogelwarte Helgoland." However, in autumn, one can observe more and more Greylag Geese in some parks again. This year more than in previous years. Why is that? Which geese are here now? Will they fly further again?
