The author Jan Peter Bremer was awarded the Italo Svevo Prize of the Free Academy of Arts last year. On the occasion of the Long Night of Literature, he reads from his latest novel “Nachhausekommen”:The narrator in the novel is six years old when the family moves from the 'wild Berlin' of the 1970s to Wendland. The father is a successful artist, and the home becomes a meeting place for the cultural scene of the old Federal Republic in the 'border zone'. In a sweeping movement of memory, Jan Peter Bremer depicts the search for direction between the parents' left-intellectual milieu and the rural-provincial village life, which the narrator ultimately finds through literature in writing. The novel has strong autobiographical elements.
