Since the 1980s, a memorial site has been located in the only surviving emergency housing complex of the prefabricated housing estate in Poppenbüttel. It commemorates the women's subcamps of the Neuengamme concentration camp in Hamburg, including the one in Sasel. Between September 1944 and May 1945, 500 women were imprisoned there. Most of them had been deported from the Auschwitz concentration camp to Hamburg. They were forced to perform labor in Hamburg's city center and during the construction of the prefabricated housing estate in Poppenbüttel. Together with young musicians from 'Jugend musiziert', we commemorate the former prisoners and engage in conversation. Program for Open Monument Day:  12:00 PM: Short guided tour and exhibition visit 1:00 PM: Music by 'Jugend musiziert' 1:30 PM: Short guided tour and exhibition visit  No registration required.
