SKULPTURAL

»Isa Mona Lisa« is the ironically playful title of a major exhibition that offers vivid insights into contemporary art through special positions of international contemporary artists. The title is taken from a photograph of the same name by Wolfgang Tillmans (1968) featuring his artist colleague Isa Genzken (1948), both of whom are also represented with works in the exhibition. The selected exhibits – including paintings, drawings, photographs, and installations – are presented throughout the entire ground floor of the Galerie der Gegenwart.

For the love of Italian art

We'll take you on a tour of our on-site exhibitions! Experienced art educators will give you an introduction to the exhibition "This is the Modern World. Breakthroughs in Art 1900–1960". With THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD. Breakthroughs in Art 1900–1960, the Hamburger Kunsthalle presents a new interpretation of its modern art collection, which, with more than 3,000 paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints, and drawings, is one of the most significant collections of modern art in Germany. Using approx. 125 selected works – including well-known highlights and special new acquisitions – the presentation illustrates the wealth of new ideas and approaches, as well as the break with existing traditions in the art of these six decades, which was shaped by extraordinary upheavals in culture and society. Participation: €6 plus admission. Available in advance. Meeting point: Lichtwarkgalerie | Altbautreppenhaus | Empore In addition to the event ticket, you will need a valid admission ticket for the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
