In the autumn of 1941, thousands of Jewish women and men were deported from the German Reich to the Minsk Ghetto. Most of them were murdered there or at the nearby extermination site Malyj Trostenez by SS units. But how did these deportations proceed – and how are these crimes remembered today in Germany and Belarus? An installation shows photographs by the Belarusian director Mila Klintsova, which lead to documentary films. They illuminate the deportations from various German cities to Minsk and show current forms of remembrance of the events in both countries. Her works connect historical events with present-day perspectives and give a voice to eyewitnesses as well as experts. The memorial site and the installation are accessible free of charge at any time.
