JOEL HAVEA TRIO Joel Havea is a versatile songwriter, authentic singer, and charismatic performer. Born in Tonga and raised in Melbourne, he blends soul, blues, roots, and reggae with the ease and warmth of his two homelands. Since the release of his debut album “You Make Me Believe” (2012), Joel has played over 900 concerts in 25 countries on four continents, establishing himself – both solo and with his band – as a fixture in the Australian and European club and festival circuits. Performances at the Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg), Bardentreffen (Nuremberg), and Montreux Jazz Festival, along with numerous international festivals, are among the highlights.The Joel Havea Trio, with Leo Lazar (Drums) and Arnd Geise (Bass), has played over 200 concerts in Europe. Their album “Ki 'a Lavaka” (2020) marks a turning point: for the first time, musical influences from Joel’s Tongan roots were consciously incorporated. With the live album “Live at Birdland” (2023), a special chapter found its conclusion: the recording documents not only the musical essence of the trio but also the end of Joel’s 15-year stay in Germany.
