In GEDOK's 100th year, the temporary art shop Ilse Mebes opens in the GEDOK Hamburg gallery at the Haus des Kunsthandwerkes Koppel 66 / Lange Reihe 75. For ten days, a wide variety of works, from drawings and prints to small sculptures by numerous Hamburg-based GEDOK artists, will be offered for immediate purchase at moderate prices. A brilliant opportunity to acquire art by contemporary female artists. > The name of the art shop goes back to the artist and poet Ilse Mebes. This one-day workshop is an introduction to the basics of bookbinding. Using traditional tools and techniques, the participants will make three different book structures: the pamphlet stitch, Japanese stab binding, and hardcover multi-signature production binding.

Learn how to make paper at home using materials from your immediate environment. In small theoretical and large practical units, you will build tools for home use. You will also learn the basics of processing flowers, leaves, plant food waste, tea bags, and waste paper into pulp and create new beautiful papers from it.

The art of paper making is widespread around the world and about 2000 years old. This course explores the history of paper making on its journey from China through the Arab and Muslim world to Europe and America. The application and properties of fiber types such as flax, linen, kozo (mulberry tree), and cotton will be presented. You will try out the different methods and recipes of papermaking.

Screen printing is a versatile photographic printing technique. In this one-day course, participants learn the tools and techniques of photo screen printing. They print their own images on various materials, including fabric, handmade paper, and found objects. In the process, they create two A4 screen prints.
