The French newspaper Le Monde raves that he "makes his Stradivari sing like a master," about the young Swedish-Norwegian violinist Johan Dalene, who studied in Stockholm and won the prestigious Carl Nielsen Competition in 2019. For several years, he has been dedicated to the music of Scandinavia in a duo with Norwegian pianist Christian Ihle Hadland, and at the SHMF, the two present a tribute to their homeland, evoking colorful soundscapes of Nordic light, mystical vastness, and rural midsummer idyll. From the sometimes tender, sometimes spirited gems of Swedish composer Amanda Röntgen-Maier to the grand dramatic third violin sonata by Edvard Grieg, a panorama of chamber music finesse unfolds, seasoned with one or another Scandinavian dance or folk song melody. The late Romantic sounds of Wilhelm Stenhammar also promise great listening pleasure – he wrote his sonata for the famous Swedish violinist Tor Aulin, who also appears as a composer in the program with his "Four Watercolors."LINEUPJohan Dalene ViolinChristian Ihle Hadland PianoPROGRAMWorks by Edvard Grieg, Amanda Röntgen-Maier, Wilhelm Stenhammar, and others.

»Best of Poetry Slam« is the best possible poetry slam. Period. It sounds simple, but it is anything but: an opulent spectacle of language featuring sprawling thoughts, sharp observations, and charming humor with a wink worth framing.Five unmistakable voices take the stage, bringing texts that invite you to laugh, think, and marvel – sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, sometimes with poetic precision, other times with narrative exuberance. An evening full of spoken word in its most beautiful forms: poetry or prattle, prose or punchlines, finely honed verses alongside wild mental acrobatics. The occasion could hardly be more fitting: this »Best of Poetry Slam« marks the starting signal for the new Kampf der Künste season. After the summer break, words are swirling across the stage once again; iambs and trochees shake the last of the beach sand from their ears and report back to the spotlight. So head to the Elbphilharmonie for an evening where the spoken word scene pulls out all the stops for you. An evening for everyone who has long loved poetry slam – and for those who want to start at the very top. One thing we can promise: you won't want to go home.
