Join us for an exciting walk through Hamburg's central park, "Planten un Blomen" – besides magnificent flowerbeds and rare trees, there are many sights to discover: winding paths lead through the diverse grounds, along the historic fortress moat, the Old Botanical Garden, past modern architecture from the 1950s and 60s from previous garden shows, through Europe's largest Japanese garden – and to Hamburg's warmest spot, the Mediterranean terraces. Meeting point: U1 Stephansplatz, exit Planten un Blomen, at the entrance in front of the Japanese Landscape Garden Fri. 04/24 Dominik Pratesi dominik.pratesi@hamburg.de Fri. 05/29 Christina Linger chrisling@gmx.de Fri. 06/26 Nicola Janocha info@anhaltspunkt-hamburg.de Fri. 07/24 Barbara Henn barbara@henn.hamburg Fri. 08/28 Gundula Boukais boukais-tourguide@web.de Fri. 09/25 Michelina Gravina michelinagravina1@gmail.com Fri. 10/16 Gundula Boukais boukais-tourguide@web.de Written registration by email to the respective address is requested. Meeting point: Stephansplatz / corner of Gorch-Fock-Wall, at the sculpture “Die Liegende”Tour - Cemetery, Zoo, Garden ShowThe Planten un Blomen green space has a varied history to offer: In 1713, plague cemeteries were established here, and from 1794 Hamburg’s parish churches also moved their burial sites outside the city walls. A last relic of this era is the "St. Petri Todtencapelle" on St. Petersburger Straße. In 1863, the Zoological Garden opened, which remained on this site until the First World War. With the “Low German Garden Show” in 1935, the area was redesigned as a public green space and named Planten un Blomen. The old burial sites have been the location of the trade fair grounds since 1953. The tour deals with the various uses of the green space, with botany somewhat taking a backseat.Cost: €12Reduced price: €8
