Hamburg Art in Public Spaces from Altona to St. Pauli - Places of Remembrance, Places of Resistance
Sat 29.08. 08:00 - 11:00
Reeperbahn , 20359 Hamburg
Further Educational Offerings
We visit places where artistic engagements with memory culture, resistance, and social participation intensify. The starting point is Park Fiction in St. Pauli – a project that emerged from a neighborhood-initiated production of desires and successfully positioned itself against planned construction projects on the harbor edge. The park with its palm trees has now become a Hamburg landmark and a popular selfie spot for tourists from all over the world. However, it originated as a collective art action against the appropriation of the neighborhood by ruthless investment policies. An expansion of the park towards the fish market is planned.
Another program item is the outdoor installation Untitled History by Eske Schlüters and Tillmann Terbuyk.
