Handmade, honest, and analog dance music straight from the engine room of the Hamburg harbor: mahoin brings the heartbeat of Sankt Pauli to the stage with accordion, drums, and plenty of brass – sometimes loud and wild, sometimes soft and heartfelt, but always with full force and soul. From their sea voyages, the five musicians in sailor pants bring a colorful cargo of songs: Ukrainian, Spanish, Serbian, Italian, French, and English songs blend with Low German and Hamburg evergreens. Wild rhythms meet driving shanties, Balkan beats mix with familiar earworms and iconic melodies. All newly interpreted with a wink. But mahoin is more than music: helmsman Johnny navigates the evening with sailor's yarns, mischief, and poetic depth – a show spectacle that remains memorable.
