El salón de teatro HANSA es una verdadera coryphée del entretenimiento de varieté y fue, durante un tiempo, el último teatro de este tipo en la República Federal. El interior no ha cambiado desde 1953 y los visitantes experimentan aquí, además de todas las fascinantes facetas de la cultura de varieté, espectáculos tradicionales e innovadores de primera clase. La gloriosa historia de esta institución, que ya no se puede imaginar sin Hamburgo, comenzó en 1894, cuando el propietario de la cervecería Paul Wilhelm Grell compró el entonces “Hansa-Concert-Saal”. Para que los clientes permanecieran un poco más tiempo con él, transformó el antiguo local de excursiones en un escenario de programa, donde aún se servían bebidas. Esto fue muy bien recibido y también en la elección de sus artistas, Grell demostró tener el ojo y el toque adecuados: estrellas internacionales encantaron al público alrededor del cambio de siglo. 25 años después, el hijo de Grell, Kurt, se unió a la próspera empresa y asumió completamente los negocios en 1924. En julio de 1943, sin embargo, ocurrió una trágica desgracia: el salón de teatro HANSA fue completamente destruido durante intensos bombardeos en Hamburgo. Pero aparentemente, Paul Wilhelm había heredado su gen del éxito a su hijo: Kurt Grell no se desanimó y construyó un nuevo teatro con 330 asientos a partir de los antiguos establos y partes del antiguo vestíbulo. Diez años después, Kurt Grell finalmente renovó su querido edificio nuevamente, convirtiéndolo en un escenario de show con un restaurante integrado de 491 asientos. Desde entonces, este maravilloso escenario no ha cambiado y los visitantes aún hoy disfrutan de esta espléndida decoración en rojo y oro.
