Before their deportation and murder, the Nazi state systematically plundered Jewish people as well as Sinti and Roma. Hamburg financial and customs officials implemented the state directives for this robbery. They deliberately destroyed the economic existence of the persecuted and took their possessions. Freight forwarders, bailiffs, auction houses, companies, private individuals, and especially the state treasury profited from this unprecedented robbery. The exhibition by the Foundation of Hamburg Memorials and Learning Sites presents the results of a two-year research project commissioned by the Hamburg Financial Authority. The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. Free admission.
