Ohlsdorf Cemetery is like a walk-in history book, and its history reaches much further back than the visible tombstones, buildings, and green spaces suggest today: The park cemetery features several Stone Age burial mounds and signs of a prehistoric settlement. In addition to these hidden places, you'll discover memorial sites and remarkable tombstones as you stroll through Ohlsdorf Cemetery, learning their interesting stories.

The Ohlsdorf Cemetery is Hamburg's largest green space and, especially in its older part, much more than "just" a cemetery. Wilhelm Cordes also planned it as a place of recreation for everyone. The tour will cover: the history of the cemetery and its burial culture, tomb symbolism, garden art, and nature conservation in the world's largest park cemetery. Along the way, some of the angel statues, prehistoric graves, and graves of some prominent people will also be discussed.
