In the 1920s, a small "Chinatown" formed in Schmuckstraße and surrounding streets. Chinese sailors opened restaurants and shops here and lived off the operations of the port. Soon, the area came under the scrutiny of the police and authorities and occupied the rumor mills of the city.The tour explores local and global migration history and describes the reactions to the "foreign guests from the Middle Kingdom."
