The southern part of Hamm was originally a marshy lowland. The area was first developed for residential estates. Today, it is characterized by residential buildings from the 1920s and the post-war period. Furthermore, residential buildings testify to a new development: the Hanse-Terrassen, the Osterbrookhöfe, as well as the planned sports center Aschbergbad, which is being built in place of the very popular outdoor swimming pool.We also see small gardens at the Bille, houseboats, the former paper mill "Hansa-Burg," the "Hallenhäuser," the Störtebeker Haus with its "Siegessäule," as well as the fire-fighting area at the Bille.
