On September 5, 2026, Hamburg's Rathausmarkt will transform into a place of encounters, exchange, and togetherness: Under the motto “Together. Strong. For Hamburg.”, the German Red Cross Hamburg invites you to the big DRK Action Day.From 11 AM to 5 PM, visitors can expect a varied day with an exciting stage program, live music with the Heaven Can Wait Choir, Die JunX, and the Welcome Band, numerous hands-on and creative activities, as well as exciting insights into the work of the DRK Hamburg.A special highlight of the day will be a hands-on activity at 3 PM: Numerous people will gather on the Rathausmarkt to jointly form the city's largest heart. The action symbolically represents what defines the German Red Cross Hamburg: humanity, solidarity, and compassion – especially in times of crisis.Join in, come along – and become part of our heart!

The Historic Christmas Market on Rathausmarkt is one of Hamburg's most famous Christmas markets. In front of the impressive backdrop of Hamburg City Hall, a festively decorated Christmas village is created with historic stalls and various themed areas. A special focus is placed on arts and crafts, as well as fair-trade, regional, and sustainable products.At the stalls, vendors offer toys, wood carvings, Christmas decorations, and gift ideas, among other things. Sweet and savory specialties, as well as winter drinks, complement the offerings. Special attractions include a historic carousel and the flying Santa Claus, who floats over the market with his sleigh.The Christmas market invites visitors to stroll through the festively designed alleys and enjoy the Advent season in the heart of Hamburg's city center.
