Harburg's seedbed lay in the marsh of the Elbe River. Where once the citadel stood and later rubber and oil industries shaped the harbor, today Hamburg's little-known 'second HafenCity' is growing with converted silos and warehouses. Our city tour leads over Harburger Schlossstraße to the warehouse at Kaufhauskanal, to the "Goldfish," to the new building of the "Fraunhofer Center," and to the Harburg Fish Hall, across disused tracks to the canal square and to the Western Bahnhofskanal as well as over a new drawbridge to Harburg Castle Island.
