The reactions to the world premiere on September 16, 2003, at Schmidts Tivoli were spectacular: The enthusiastic audience applauded standing, the press celebrated the "love declaration to St. Pauli" (Nordsee-Zeitung) as "charming and sexy, lascivious and honest" (Hamburger Abendblatt), the Welt raved about a "nearly real fairy tale," while the Süddeutsche Zeitung described it as a "crash course in St. Pauli culture," and the MOPO even called it "Hamburg's best musical." Since then, countless sausages have been grilled here and served with a large portion of heart, cheek, and humor at the most famous snack bar on the Reeperbahn. Meanwhile, the production has thrilled 2.8 million guests in over 5100 shows.Every evening, nine ensemble members slip into over 50 roles and take you on a fast-paced show centered around 24 hours at the Kiez snack bar "Heiße Ecke." At the counter of Hannelore and her crew, all of St. Pauli gathers: the pretty girls and the tough guys, the tourists before the musical visit and the garbage collectors after their shift, the party crowd from the suburbs wanting to let loose, and the Kiez regulars who are actually fed up but still can’t get enough of the quirkiest mile in the republic.Theater director Corny Littmann and his team – foremost Martin Lingnau (music), Heiko Wohlgemuth (lyrics), and Thomas Matschoß (book) – have erected a monument to Hamburg's most colorful district, which has been delighting audiences for a proud 20 years since September 2023. Gritty banter, heartfelt stories, and great songs in a show that portrays the everyday madness surrounding the Reeperbahn: Welcome to the "Heiße Ecke." 100 percent heartfelt!
