"It seems as if the Hamburgers have driven everything they no longer wanted or could accommodate in the city out to the district of St. Georg," writes a chronicler in the year 1811. St. Georg is, in this sense, a typical suburb but also has other sides to offer, which we will see on this city tour: luxurious hotels like the Reichshof and stately townhouses near the Außenalster. The train station district with Kirchenallee and Hansaplatz is also shaped by a large Muslim community, as emphasized by the Centrum Mosque on Böckmannstraße. In close proximity is the Catholic church in the form of St. Mary's Cathedral. Furthermore, St. Georg is the center of the gay community around Lange Reihe.
In the midst of this contrasting district, we also show a Christian convent for women as well as a park that was known for its drug scene. That there was a street scene established by the Trinity Church until recently is something that hardly anyone can imagine today. Today, the scene is mainly concentrated on Steindamm.
