An event in the series Dörte Hansen, - Broder | Reading & TalkDörte Hansen is coming to Harburg! We are very much looking forward to seeing the well-known author again, this time at the Speicher am Kaufhauskanal and with her then newly released book "Broder". Of course, Mr. Schmitt from the Buchhandlung am Sand will question her in an accompanying conversation, and the ladies and gentlemen from the Speicher will take care of your physical well-being. About the new novel "Broder" (release date 09.09.2026): Broder Bahnsen never wanted to be anything other than a farmer, the successor to his father, who bequeathed him the "cow sense," the instinct for animals. But his twin brother Henning, a few minutes older, always more self-confident and more interested in machines, gets the farm. Driven from the farm, Broder Bahnsen builds a parallel life for himself, becomes a veterinarian, and keeps his distance from the farm until he returns after more than twenty years and takes over a practice near his family. From then on, he also takes care of his brother's herd, who has turned the parental farm into a state-of-the-art flagship operation, with cows bred for maximum milk production. But Broder is the first to notice that Henning is slowly losing control of his farm. And he suddenly has to ask himself if he hasn't been waiting for this all these years. Is this the opportunity to finally take his brother's place? Or, like his daughter Claire, has he long harbored doubts about this type of animal husbandry?
