St. Anthony's Church Alsterdorf

The Hamburg Guitar Forum presents its 12th Guitar Night as part of NDKH and is once again a guest at the central NDKH project, Guitar Church in St. Antonius. From solo performances to ensembles, from Renaissance dances to jazz ballads, this special night enchants with a warm and versatile pulse, surprising with a contrasting and self-contained program every full hour. The highlight is once again the light show by Christoph Jürgens. Between the approximately 40-minute concerts, audience and musicians meet over bread and wine and engage in conversation. The four-part program is designed by Hamburg artists, students of the HfMT, and ensembles from the State Youth Music School, among others, and each set is opened with a spiritual impulse from the Holy Spirit parish. For 24 years, the Hamburg Guitar Forum e. V. has been voluntarily committed to promoting and networking the Hamburg guitar scene, is responsible for the program design of this Guitar Night, and welcomes donations to support its cultural work.

The festive overture with baroque music, Elizabethan dances, and Spanish fandango. Designed by the NZO-YOUNGSTERS teens under the direction of Steffen Trekel, as well as the performance class for guitar and soloists from the State Youth Music School, directed by Clemens Völker and Leo Zeijl.

An exciting classical-pop crossover with the Bondenwald guitar orchestra, led by Johann Jacob Nissen, the JMS advanced guitar class, led by Michael Bentzien, and a prize-winning guitar quartet from the JMS.

A special highlight of the guitar night at blue hour! The Farmsener Guitar Ensemble, directed by Clemens Völker, plays music from Ravel to Kleynjans, and the Hamburg singer-songwriter Eilun – vocals and guitar – tells stories of vastness, the sea, and life in her songs.

To conclude and as a finale, traditional goodnight songs will be played in the Gitarrenkirche for an open midnight ensemble to join in and play along or sing along. The sheet music will be made available for download in advance on hamburgergitarrenforum.de and all guests are invited to help shape the musical conclusion.
