St. Martinuskirche Eppendorf - Church of the Nazarene

The Old Church Service of Light Vespers draws on a form of devotion that was celebrated in a similar way in the early church on all evenings of the week. In this sung evening service, the symbols of rising incense and the passing on of the light from the Paschal candle hold a very special place. The calm and meditative character of this evening prayer offers space for one's own thoughts. Moments of silence and communal singing in prayer alternate.

The chairman of the church council of the Old Catholic parish of Hamburg, Olaf Welling, and the pastor of the parish, Dean Walter Jungbauer, offer an insight into the world and faith of Old Catholicism. It becomes clear that the term "Old" in the name may be misleading. This is because it is a modern church in which Christian faith finds a contemporary form of expression.
