Seit 2001 verwandelt sich das Theater im Hafen beinahe täglich in eine afrikanische Savanne, während draußen Containerschiffe vorbeiziehen und die Elbe so tut, als sei das alles völlig normal. Schon die Fahrt mit dem Shuttleboot gehört zum Abend, danach übernehmen Simba, Rafiki, Elton Johns Musik und eine Bühnentechnik, bei der selbst abgeklärte Erwachsene für knapp drei Stunden wieder erstaunlich große Augen bekommen.
