Whether it's a piano recital, a song recital, a piano trio, or a piano concerto – as soon as a grand piano is on stage, an incredible number of things need to be considered for the perfect sound: the tuning of the strings, the touch of the keys, the right pressure on the pedal. Even the slightest imperfection can turn long-awaited musical enjoyment into an acoustic nightmare. This is, of course, not to be feared in professional music. The fact that nothing squeaks and everything is in tune is thanks to excellent concert technicians who give the usual 88 keys of a concert grand piano the necessary fine-tuning before each concert. In "Insight Piano," Simon Rempe, master piano builder at Steinway & Sons, and pianist Elisabeth Brauß explain what to pay special attention to with pianos and why different pianists prefer different models. It all starts at 6 p.m. with a tour of the Steinway & Sons production halls, before Simon Rempe and Elisabeth Brauß, after a short refreshment break with cool drinks, offer interesting insights into the collaboration between piano builders and pianists, along with live music. The audience can then dive even deeper into the world of piano music at Elisabeth Brauß's concert on November 24, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the Small HallCASTElisabeth Brauß PianoSimon Rempe TalkVincent Dahm Moderation
