The Subbühne - Another Memorial for Wolfgang Borchert
This tour goes underground: The small pipe bunker is hidden in the middle of Eppendorf, at the corner of Tarpenbekstraße and Thälmannplatz. It offered refuge as an underground shelter during World War II. After being forgotten for a long time, Michael Batz and Gerd Stange transformed it into a walk-in memorial for Wolfgang Borchert in May 1995. To this day, it encourages critical reflection on history and war.
