The Altes Heizkraftwerk Theater was founded in 2022 under the direction of Torsten Diehl. With three stages, this new venue aims not only to showcase contemporary theater, but also to serve as a communicative space that documents and makes the transformation of the site tangible. In doing so, the larger context is always taken into account. The cultural and urban development-related definition of the location is not only of interest to the affected neighborhoods and districts. According to reports, one of the largest construction sites in the city is to be built here at the Diebsteich. From the start, we want to give culture a voice. It seems paradoxical to everyone that only now, in the face of climate change, urban planning is once again focusing on greening, having come to the (late) realization that the shade of trees is indispensable in the heat. Now, it is unmistakable that a transformation of cities is taking place in European metropolises. One doesn't have to be a prophet to recognize that in the heat of the battles, the shade of culture is essential.
