In 1961, the Kapernaum Church was consecrated as one of four new churches in the Horn district. The legendary "Beat Services" and weddings with beat music, which were reported on nationwide by the press and television, were an absolute novelty in church circles in 1966/67 and even made it into the Tagesschau (a German news program)!Almost 50 years later, the church was back in the headlines, this time worldwide! It is the first Protestant church that, after its deconsecration, is being used as a mosque by a Muslim community.
Please remember that mosques are entered without shoes! Shoe racks are available in the entrance area for storing your shoes, then you continue in socks!Tour start: planned for 3 p.m., please check the website of the Geschichtswerkstatt Horn (Horn History Workshop) in early September for the exact time.
