City Walks
Hamburg has always developed as a pronounced trading city. Nevertheless, the city can boast interesting engineering achievements. We showcase outstanding structures that are characteristic of this and stand out from the buildings of a residence city. We dive into the history of the trading city and stroll over quays, cross a variety of bridges, and go underneath subway viaducts. This involves civil engineering, sewers and canals, flood protection, and the growing challenges of traffic in a million-inhabitant city. The city tour leads from the Old Town to the former inner harbor, through the Warehouse District and HafenCity to the flood protection promenade.
