City Walks
Eilbek is characterized at first glance by many post-war buildings - and by the Wandsbeker Chaussee, which has been part of the trade route between Lübeck and Hamburg since Hanseatic times. However, away from the Chaussee, a surprising diversity reveals itself: solid burgher life in the north, houseboats on the canal, courtyards, and old factories in the south. We learn what the Landwehr and the Hasselbrook once were, which scents shaped the district, and what the "Ihlen" were about. Additionally, we hear about an old convent, a monastery, and a hospital, and conclude by discovering the Auenviertel.
